MilNeil displays 'arrogance' by telling people to ditch cars

Editor,Christian MiNeil has a point when he extols the usefulness and pleasantness of many our city's
streets and complains of "planners and architects (who) just don't think of our streets as public
spaces anymore" ("Public space and the public architecture," Thursday, Aug. 9). But he's mean-spirited and way off base when he castigates "people who lack the courage or strength to get out of their cars and use their muscles for a change."
This arrogant fellow has no consideration for parents of young children who can't drag them on long hikes to visit local stores! As a 78-year-old woman I NEED to park closer to stores where I want to shop. I can't stand in the cold waiting for public transit and if there was a garage available in my condo I'd gladly pay to keep my car off the street and in it!!
Christian MiNeil looks wonderfully young in his photo - perhaps he has no older parents or young kids — but he needs to be more considerate of the population at large in this great city of ours!!
