"The annual alumni show is a wonderful chance for us to reconnect with past USM art students, who are continuing to develop as artists," said Kim Grant, USM art professor and department chair, in a USM press release. "While many alumni are frequently showing their work throughout the state and the country, this is an opportunity to see all of their pieces together."
There will be an opening reception for the exhibition, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, in the AREA Gallery, Woodbury Campus Center, USM Portland campus. The Best of Show award will be announced at 6 p.m. and artist talks will begin at 6:30 p.m. The opening reception is free and open to the public. In case of inclement weather, the snow date will be the closing reception, 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 28.
Virginia Rose, an art history instructor at Southern Maine Community College and a former adjunct professor of art history at USM, has been an active member of the southern Maine art scene for the past eight years.
