Paz, Duran to reunite for pro boxing event in Portland

Five-time World Boxing Champion Vinny Paz will reunite with his former opponent Roberto Duran, who will be this year's special guest when pro boxing returns to the Portland Expo on Saturday, Nov. 16, the Portland Boxing Club reported. Paz and Duran will not be fighting this time, but they have fought twice in the past (1994 and 1995) late in Duran's career. Paz was the Portland Boxing Club's special guest last year at the USA Boxing New England Championship Finals. When Paz found out Duran was appearing in Portland, he thought it would be a good opportunity to reunite with his former adversary on friendly terms, the club reported.
The card will feature five pro bouts and three amateur bouts. Tickets are on sale at PortTix.com or at Bruno's Restaurant, 33 Allen Ave., Portland. Doors open at 6 p.m. when Duran will be signing autographs until 9 p.m. Bouts start at 7:30 p.m.
