WMPG 'Begathon' fundraiser continues today, Wednesday

WMPG Radio, the community radio station broadcasting from Portland at the University of Southern Maine, has launched its "Fall Begathon." The fundraiser runs until Wednesday, Oct. 3. The station's goal is to raise $42,000.
hon started today and runs through Wednesday October 3rd. Regular listeners to WMPG know, "This is not your average everyday pledge drive," the station reported. "Public and Community broadcasters all over the nation raise funds for their operations by pre-empting their usual programming to ask their listeners to support the broadcast service they enjoy. Nothing different there, except at WMPG, we call it a 'Begathon.'"
WMPG maintains its regular programming during Begathon, but the programmers plan special features and often have special gifts for listeners who pledge during their show.
Donations can be made online at wmpg.org; or the public can call the Begathon hotline at 874-3000; or stop in at WMPG, 92 Bedford St.
