Man with Yankees hat arrested for throwing brick through PPD door

Jeffrey Nason was arrested Saturday night for throwing a brick through one of the glass panels in the door leading to the lobby of the Portland Police Department.
Nason became enraged when someone made fun of his New York Yankees baseball cap while he was out Saturday night in the Old Port, police reported. He went directly to police headquarters to register a complaint with the officer on duty at the front desk.
He was told, "That's not a crime."
After exclaiming, "Oh, really?" he removed a brick from the sidewalk and hurled it through the door, police said. This caused the 38-year-old man to be arrested and charged with aggravated criminal mischief, due to the extensive damage sustained. Nason was taken into custody without incident.
Unable to raise the bail of $1,000, he was still being held at the Cumberland County Jail on Sunday afternoon.
