Man taken into custody following shots fired call in North Deering

A North Deering man was taken into custody Thursday after he allegedly fired shots outside his home.The Portland Police Department responded to 10 Marlborough Road just before noon Thursday after receiving several reports of gun shots heard in the area and the home's resident report he fired his gun.
The 66-year-old man surrendered to the officers on the scene, according to a press release, and investigators think the man was suffering from mental illness.
The man was taken into custody and brought to the hospital for an evaluation and treatment, according to police.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police removed the firearms from the house, according to a press release, and don't anticipate any criminal charges will be filed.
