Rumford man charged with distribution of child porn

Jeremy Vashaw, 41, of Rumford has been arrested and charged with distributing child pornography, the Maine Department of Public Safety reported.
The State Police Computer Crimes Unit arrested Rumford Thursday afternoon and charged him with one count of dissemination of sexually explicit material of persons under the age of 12, a state press release reported. Vashaw's computer was seized in December and the charge was made after the computer's contents were analyzed by technicians at the computer crimes unit, which found hundreds of images of children, the Maine Department of Public Safety reported. Vashaw was arrested at his home and taken to the Oxford County Jail.
Vashaw, according to Maine Department of Public Safety, works at Sunday River and is on the Rumford town budget committee.
