Police arrest Portland residents on cocaine, pot charges


On Thursday evening, a joint investigation of the Westbrook Police Department and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency resulted in the arrest of two suspected drug traffickers in Riverbank Park on Main Street in Westbrook, the Westbrook Police Department reported.

Twenty-one-year-old Branly Mateo of Portland and 19-year-old Phila Kien of Portland were both charged with trafficking in scheduled drugs after the 7 p.m. incident, police reported. The park was full of families and children at the time. Police recovered and siezed 7 grams of cocaine from the suspects as well as marijuana. Both suspects were booked into the Cumberland County Jail where each were held for $3,000 bail.
