Obituary


Frances L. Taylor, 92, formerly of Cole Street, South Portland and the Betsy Ross House, Preble Street, South Portland, died on July 22, 2010, in Foley, Ala. She resided at Golden Living Nursing Home at the time of her death. She attended worship services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Alston Street.

Frances Lucille was born in Peru, Maine, a daughter of William Frederick and Sarah Louise Moore Tyler. She attended South Portland Schools.

In her older teen years, she was employed by Peacock Canning Company in Portland. She was an avid homemaker, canning garden produce, baking cakes for birthdays and making dolls and doll furniture.

Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her husband John Taylor in 1999, daughter Sandra L. Brais in 2000, and a granddaughter Lisa B. Wood in 2007.

Surviving is a daughter, Sarah J. Dunham and son-in-law, Mike Dunham of Foley, Ala.; a son, John W. Taylor and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Taylor of Scarborough; four grandchildren, Karen Brais, Connie Brais, Pennie Taylor and Rob Breckner; two great-grandchildren, Sandy Lee Labbe and Dillon Gates; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 29 at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. Interment will be at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
